Fife Tours Kingsbarns distillery
At Kingsbarns Distillery

Treat yourself to a true Scottish experience: Fife tours is the perfect way to discover the Kingdom of Fife and its whisky distilleries!

What is Fife Tours?

We are a family owned company offering executive private tours and airport tranfers. We do not employ drivers from outside our immediate family, this ensures that all our guests enjoy our personal attention and, as family members, we never have to “phone the office” for permissions or instruction if a guest wishes to go off the original itinerary.
We take our guests on tours to see some of the finest sights in Scotland, including castles, lochs and our beautiful countryside, plus some tours designed around the popular series Outlander and the film The Outlaw King.
Of course, we also offer whisky tours to some of the newer distilleries in Fife including Kingsbarns and Lindores Abbey and we are talking with another distillery which does not currently do tours in order to add that for special parties.
Currently we are looking to add a new lowland distilleries tour to our portfolio. This new tour will feature distilleries situated in the Lothians and Borders including, Glenkinchie in East Lothian and The Borders Distillery in Hawick.
As we are a small company, we also offer bespoke tours of all kinds and guests can visit a wide selection of whisky distilleries and other attractions outside of Fife, including the West Coast and Dumfries and Galloway.
Our tours are high end, with groups of 3/4 guests or a small minibus of only 8 guests from one party. We never offer mixed party tours. Our aim is to provide our guests with the opportunity to see exactly what they want to see, with no rushing or keeping to a strict schedule.
Due to the small size of our parties, we can tailor tours to each guest group, with allowances for young and old.

The people at Fife Tours.

I am Derek McEwan, the company owner, I was a senior police officer for many years and when I left the police, my wife Lesley and I moved to Spain, where she opened an estate agency and rental business.
We firmly believed that people had to get to know and to like the local area before they should even consider buying a property. So, I used to do tours for our clients of 2 or 3 days.
This allowed them to see areas inland, the coast, a selection of the local villages and towns and we would stop and have coffee or lunch to let them drink in the atmosphere. Of course, I was also very happy to answer any questions and I loved to show them sights they would not normally find themselves if touring the area. I really liked doing tours and showing people the best of the area and when we returned to Scotland after 20 years in Spain, I had already decided that is what I wanted to do …. show people the best of my homeland in a relaxed and comfortable way. Lesley works part time as an Appropriate Adult, but when she is not on call she helps me with the marketing of the company and deals with enquiries and bookings. We have worked together for many years and feel we are a good partnership and jointly able to offer an excellent service to our clients.

What is your mission?

Our aim is to expand the company, to offer a wider range of tours and to specialise in bespoke tours. Lesley has an interest in genealogy and we would like to offer a service to help trace ancestors and take clients to places of interest from their past.
Our USP is our adaptability. We can design tours to a client’s specific desires, due to our in depth knowledge of Scotland and what it can offer, especialy Fife, Edinburgh and the Borders. So if a client wants to visit a romantic castle in the morning and then have lunch by a picturesque loch with a champagne and smoked salmon picnic and a whisky tour in the afternoon, we can arrange that at the drop of a hat.
Likewise, if they want to go hill walking to see some of our hidden countryside and then enjoy a pub lunch in a remote village not often visited by tourists, we can arrange that also.
