ABERFELDY DISTILLERY

Aberfeldy distillery

Located in the heart of Highland Perthshire, on the outskirts of the village Aberfeldy, the distillery was built by the Dewar family in 1896. The Dewar’s family pursuit of whisky perfection continues to this day, making Aberfeldy the elegantly balanced single malt at the heart of Dewar’s blended scotch. And one to fully enjoy on its own.

ABERFELDY DISTILLERY HISTORY

Dewar’s Aberfeldy Distillery was planned and built in 1896 by the sons of John Dewar. Production began in 1898, thus providing more quality single malt to use in Dewar’s highly successful blend.

The distillery is located just three miles from Dull, the small hamlet where John Dewar was born. The location is conveniently near the water source of Pitilie Burn, whose waters are still used to make Aberfeldy whisky. In the early days, train links to nearby Perth were of extreme importance to whisky production in Aberfeldy. Barley came and whisky left, ready to be bottled and put on the market.
The pagoda roof featured by the distillery is still the original one, designed by distillery architect Charles Doig in 1896.
The old Malting House now hosts the Whisky Lounge and Cafe. Also, the spirit is now aged elsewhere in Scotland and the former filling station and warehouse serve as visiting areas, thus providing the guests with an historic and atmospheric backdrop to their visit.

ABERFELDY WHISKY

Aberfeldy is famous for being the core of Dewar’s blends, but can be also perfectly enjoyed as a single malt.

Malty and sweet, with a creamy and fruity nose and a spicy finish. A perfect expression of an highland malt.

Dewar blends

Dewar’s White label is one of the leading blended scotch whiskies worldwide. It was created in 1899, just a year after production began at Aberfeldy. The Dewar range now includes Dewar 12, 15, 18, 25 and Dewar 8 Carribean smooth, a scotch whisky finished in rum casks.
These blends all boast extra smoothness (due to the well established double aging process) and offer flavors ranging from honey and heather to marzipan and rich fruit.
